The Weight of Whispers

Upadhyaya works with old decaying found garment. Responding to contradictory impulses, at once she aids the destruction of the aging silk and reconstructs spaces for preservation of the old object. The work is a study in to matter and memory. It was shown at the Fulton Street Collective in September 2016.

The Futility of Remembrance

Gathering discarded materials from a walking performance, Upadhyaya creates pocket forms to capture past moments. She beautifies and destroys as she works. The work draws the viewer closer to a quiet examination of what we value.

The work was shown at Fulton Street Collective, Chicago September, 2016
